Rylan Pribadi Brisbane Accident: Brisbane Grammar School and St Peters Lutheran College Grammar School student died in skiing accident

The Brisbane Grammar School and St Peters Lutheran College communities are mourning the loss of Rylan Pribadi, a Brisbane Grammar School student who died in a skiing accident on Wednesday, January 7, while overseas in Niseko, Japan.

Brisbane Grammar School confirmed the news in a statement issued with “heavy hearts,” announcing the passing of Old Boy Rylan Pribadi ’25. The school noted that Rylan died while doing what he loved most, a sentiment echoed by friends, classmates, and staff as tributes continue to pour in.

Rylan joined Brisbane Grammar School as a boarder in 2022, entering Year 9, and quickly became a valued and well-respected member of the boarding community. Known for his warm personality and easy approachability, he formed strong connections with both peers and staff during his time at the school.

A passionate footballer, Rylan made a significant contribution to the school’s sporting life. In 2025, he was a member of the Premiership-winning First XI football team and, in the same year, served with distinction as a Boarding Prefect—roles that reflected his leadership, reliability, and commitment to others.

In its statement, Brisbane Grammar School described Rylan as friendly, dependable, and deeply committed to those around him, noting that his passing has profoundly affected all who knew him. “Our school community mourns the loss of a bright and valued member of the BGS family,” the statement read.

The school extended its deepest condolences to Rylan’s parents, Reza and Jacky, his two sisters, and his extended family and friends. St Peters Lutheran College also joined in expressing sorrow and support as the wider school community reflects on the loss.

As Brisbane Grammar School, St Peters Lutheran College, and the broader Brisbane community grieve, Rylan Pribadi is being remembered for his kindness, leadership, and passion for sport and life. He remains in the thoughts and hearts of those who knew and loved him during this incredibly difficult time.
