SCHOOL BUS AIDE PLEADS GUILTY TO ABUSING NONVERBAL KIDS

A former school bus aide in Colorado has pleaded guilty to assaulting several nonverbal children with autism two years ago. Kiarra Jones pleaded guilty to 10 felony charges of third-degree assault of an at-risk child and two charges of misdemeanor child abuse.

A criminal complaint was launched when a parent of a nonverbal student with autism came home with bruises on his foot and asked the school to show her surveillance video from the bus. The footage reportedly showed the boy being physically assaulted, and further investigations revealed “Jones assaulted the same nonverbal student on multiple occasions dating back to February 2024.” Jones is expected to be sentenced on March 18 and could face up to 15 years in prison for the crimes.
